Guiding your Canadian immigration journey with clarity.

Welcome to Northern Pathways Immigration Consulting.

Burcu Akyol - Immigration Consultant

Northern Pathways is led by Burcu Akyol , a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC-IRB) in good standing with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC).

Burcu is an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law program at Queen's University. She serves as a Board Member of the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants (CAPIC) and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and continuing professional development programs for immigration practitioners. She is also a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits in Ontario.

At Northern Pathways, we provide professional immigration consulting informed by lived immigration experience. We approach every matter with strategic insight and treat every client as a person, not a case number. Our services are delivered with a strong emphasis on ethics, legal accuracy, and practical strategy, grounded in immigration law, policy, and real-world application.

Whether you are exploring study or work pathways, pursuing permanent residence, or navigating a complex or high-stakes application, we provide clear, informed guidance at every stage. Please note that we do not provide representation for applications under Quebec immigration programs.

Our Process

Every immigration case is different, and the steps may vary. This is a general overview of how we support clients from an initial eligibility review to application submission.

1

Pre-Assessment

Start by completing our immigration pre-assessment form. We review the information you provide and follow up with an initial overview of immigration pathways that may fit your situation, including temporary and permanent residence options. Depending on your profile, we may recommend a consultation to confirm eligibility and discuss next steps in detail.

2

Consultation

Our consultations are tailored to your circumstances and goals. We review eligibility, discuss available pathways, and outline a clear strategy and next steps. We are authorized to provide immigration consultation and representation services across Canada, excluding Quebec immigration programs.

3

Application Preparation and Submission

If we agree to move forward, we work closely with you to prepare your application from start to finish. This includes confirming the strategy, gathering supporting documents, preparing forms and submissions, and filing with the appropriate immigration authority. We act as your authorized representative and manage communication with immigration authorities on your behalf throughout the process. We focus on accuracy, completeness, and clear communication at every stage. In limited and appropriate cases, we also offer application review services for clients who prefer to manage their own applications. This service is offered on a case-by-case basis.

Immigration Calculators

Use these calculators to estimate your eligibility and better understand your options. For tailored advice and a complete assessment, book a consultation.

These tools provide general estimates only and do not replace professional advice or IRCC decisions.

Express Entry CRS Calculator

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is used in Canada's Express Entry system to rank candidates for permanent residence. Use this CRS calculator to estimate your score based on factors such as age, education, work experience, and language test results, as well as other additional factors that may apply in your situation, such as French-language proficiency, Canadian education, a provincial nomination, or having a Canadian citizen or permanent resident sibling. Results are estimates only and should be confirmed through a full eligibility assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Express Entry is IRCC's online system for managing applications for Canadian permanent residence (PR) through the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class, as well as some Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams.

If you are eligible for at least one Express Entry program, you create an online profile and enter a pool of candidates. You receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on factors such as your age, education, work experience, and language ability.

IRCC holds periodic draws and invites top-ranked candidates who meet the requirements for that draw to apply for permanent residence. Since June 2023, IRCC has also held category-based draws, which invite candidates who meet specific criteria such as French-language proficiency or work experience in targeted occupations.
